Hi all:

Can anyone provide a summary as to the extent to which interior volume of a C-Max Energi is (if at all) different from that of a C-Max conventional hybrid? I was in a conventional hybrid C-Max the other day and it seemed pretty roomy.

Passenger volume is the same in both vehicles, though the cargo area is reduced by 22% in the Energi compared to the Hybrid—from 24.5 cubic feet to 19.2 cubic feet. The larger battery of the Energi takes up about 5" of vertical space in the cargo area, raising the load floor by that much over the Hybrid. The rear seats fold down to the same level in both vehicles, which means there's about a 5" height difference between the floor of the cargo area and the back of the rear seats when folded in the Energi, whereas in the Hybrid the back of the rear seats are level with the load floor of the cargo area. Hope that helps despite the several months' delay since your question was posted.

Yes, that's helpful, thanks.

At this point I'd prefer a used Chevy Volt, but the prices aren't coming down strongly enough for me, so a used C-Max Energi is still slightly in the running.
